A six-month-old infant was inadvertently vaccinated with a Chinese vaccine against COVID-19 from the pharmaceutical company Sinovac Biotech in Chile, 24 Horas television channel reported, citing local authorities.
According to the TV channel, the child’s mother brought the child for vaccination with age-appropriate vaccines to a family health center in the municipality of Tirua, Biotech region.
The commune authorities stated that after the vaccination error, the appropriate authorities were notified and “all measures were taken to control and monitor the child. An investigation has been launched into how the infant was administered the wrong vaccine.
“We are very concerned about the health of the infant, who did not show adverse reactions while under observation,” authorities said. The infant’s family will receive all necessary assistance.
