Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson said he will likely leave his role at the end of President Trump’s first term in an interview with Newsmax TV on Monday.
“I will certainly finish out this term,” Carson said to Newsmax. “I would be interested in returning to the private sector because I think you have just as much influence, maybe more, there.”
Carson has faced scrutiny and backlash for ordering a $31,000 dining set for his office and blamed it on his wife. The order was eventually cancelled and the department’s inspector general opened a review into Carson’s family’s involvement at the HUD.
