The Federal Aviation Administration announced that they are halting flights into New York’s LaGuardia airport due to air traffic controllers shortages because of the Government shutdown.
A day after airline executives were warned that the Government shutdown could have an effect on the Transportation Security Administration screeners and air traffic controllers, the FAA is halting flights into New York’s LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and a few other major airports.
Air traffic controllers have been calling in sick and refusing to go to work unpaid.
The FAA also released a statement reassuring travelers that ‘our nation’s airspace system is safe.’
