Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani appeared on CNN’s Chris Cuomo on Wednesday night and claimed he “never said there was no collusion” between the Trump campaign and Russia.
Who needs Robert Mueller when you have Rudy Giuliani?
Giuliani also said President Trump didn’t collude with Russia himself and the president didn’t commit any crimes.
“I never said there was no collusion between the campaign, or between people in the campaign. I have no idea,” Rudy said.
Cuomo claimed that the President said ‘nobody in his campaign colluded with the Russians’ after Giuliani insisted that he didn’t.
Mediaite found a video on CNBC proving Trump said his campaign didn’t collude with the Russians.
Giuliani is doing his best to distance his client from the rest of his campaign officials but Trump has said repeatedly on Twitter and on video his campaign didn’t collude with the Russians.
Don’t forget Trump’s ‘smocking’ gun tweet
Is there Trump campaign collusion?
Robert Mueller and the Special Counsel has already charged 12 Russian intelligence officers related to the hacking of the DNC. Paul Manafort has also been accused by the special counsel of sharing polling data with a Russian spy during the 2016 campaign.
Chris Cuomo also asked Giuliani about Manafort sharing polling data and if that can be considered a form of collusion.
“Polling data is given to everybody,” Giuliani said.
Trump’s lawyer also claimed that his client didn’t know about the distribution of polling data until he saw it covered in the news.
Truth isn’t Truth?
Giuliani issued a statement this morning trying to clarify his comments from last night, saying there were “misinterpreted”:
“I represent only President Trump not the Trump campaign. There was no collusion by President Trump in any way, shape or form. Likewise, I have no knowledge of any collusion by any of the thousands of people who worked on the campaign.”
It seems Giuliani trapped himself into a corner and realizes that it’s getting smaller by the day.
