State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert withdrew herself from consideration to replace Nikki Haley as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.
“I am grateful to President Trump and Secretary Pompeo for the trust they have placed in me for considering me for the position of U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations,” Nauert wrote in a statement on Saturday.
“The past two months have been grueling for my family and therefore it is in the best interest of my family that I withdraw my name from consideration.”
Heather Nauert was a Fox News host before she became the spokeswoman for the State Department, she was heavily criticized by her peers because of her lack of experience.
It’s also been reported that Nauert and her husband hired a nanny who was in the U.S. legally buy wasn’t authorized to work. This would’ve came out during her confirmation hearing.
Nauert was nominated to the post of U.N. ambassador in December after Nikki Haley resigned in October.
