Since the beginning of his campaign, and throughout his presidency to date, trump’s rhetoric has focused on persuading the public that his stochastic comments have been predicted by our country’s early racist history and traditions.
At the beginning of nearly every one of his “rallies”, he begins by mentioning the patriots and pioneers of whatever state he happens to be in. Once the crowd is roaring their approval at the mention of their home state’s forefathers, he segways to his “belief that what’s happening today is not what they would’ve wanted”.
Perhaps he’s right.
Many of the early European immigrants to America that weren’t slaves (as such) themselves, were a bigoted bunch. The early gentry probably held with the ideology of racial superiority popularly at that time. But the disconnect comes in the fact that we no longer live in those times!
300 years ago, people believed that the body was controlled by “humors”, that witchcraft could beguile men’s minds and the height of technology was an oil lamp.
Trump’s constant barrage of disingenuous comments aimed at promoting the belief that modern America stands for an exclusively white, Christian society are a dangerous, retrograde movement to re-establish a less civilized and racially intolerant time.
Don’t ever doubt that Trump is a very dangerous man.
