Poll majority blames Trump and republicans for shutdown

Most Americans blame president Donald Trump and the Republicans for the ongoing government shutdown.

Fifty-five-percent of those surveyed say Trump is more responsible for the stalemate than Republicans.

Thirty-two-percent say Democrats bear more responsibility and only nine percent blame the shutdown on both sides.

The poll found that the president’s border wall proposal is deeply unpopular overall, 56-percent of Americans oppose it.

The survey also found that Trump’s disapproval rating has climbed five points since last month — 57-percent of Americans disapprove of the job he’s doing.

The increase in disapproval for the president comes mostly among white people without college degrees; 47-percent of that group now disapproves, compared to 45-percent who approve.
