A new Washington Post-ABC News poll reveals that 53 percent of people believe Donald Trump and the GOP are responsible for the government shutdown compared to 29 percent who say Democrats are at fault. 13 percent blames both sides.
However, 53 percent of independents blame President Trump and his party, compared to only 23 percent that blames Democrats.
Republican support has increased 16 points for the border wall since January of last year, from 71 percent to 87 percent.

Trump also said publicly during a meeting in the White House with Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi that he would be proud to shutdown the government over border wall funding.
The Government shutdown is now the longest in history and it doesn’t seem like there is no end in sight. The President is refusing to sign a spending bill without funding support for a border wall.
Trump also says that he will declare a national emergency to build a wall if he doesn’t receive funding but White House advisors and trying to convince him that this could lead to problems.
Some Republicans like Lindsey Graham also support the President’s plan to use emergency powers to build the wall.
