You heard that right, one of the biggest critics of socialized medicine is traveling to Canada later this month to have hernia surgery.
According to the Louisville Courier Journal, Rand Paul said his injury is related to an incident back in 2017 when his neighbor, Rene Boucher attacked him while he was maintaining his lawn.
Paul is scheduled to visit Shouldice Hernia Hospital in Thornhill, Ontario at the end of this month.
Rand Paul has constantly fought against socialized medicine, and Canada is very well known for medical care that is publicly funded and universally provided through the country’s Ministry of Health.
Vitanna lists 17 pros and cons of Universal Healthcare and defines it as “the idea that everyone within a country should have access to medical services without fear of cost.”
Everyone is Canada receives the same level of health care no matter who you are or where you came from. The rich and the poor receive the same high-quality medical attention.
Rand Paul: “Right to Healthcare” would result in slavery for doctors.
“With regard to the idea whether or not you have a right to health care … It means you believe in slavery,” Paul said back in 2011. “You are going to enslave not only me but the janitor at my hospital, the person who cleans my office, the assistants, the nurses. … You are basically saying you believe in slavery.”
It seems like Republicans care more about building a wall on the southern border, than fighting for better healthcare for all Americans.
But when it comes to healthcare for themselves, they will quickly run to the places that offer the service they claim to hate.
Many big voices on the left like Brian Krassenstein, called Rand Paul a hypocrite.
“Rand Paul goes to Canada for surgery because their socialized medicine is better and cheaper than ours.” Twitter user Jeff Tiedrich
Many people can’t get past the irony that guy who is against socialized medicine is flying to Canada for surgery.
40,000 Americans die every year because they lack healthcare and Rand Paul votes against expanding healthcare at every turn.
Many on the left also note that Paul’s Healthcare is paid for by the American tax-payer.
