Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani walked back comments he made about the Trump Tower Moscow project.
Trump was still involved in discussions to build the tower in Moscow though 2016 right up until Americans went to the voting booths during the presidential election.
From the New York Times: “The new timetable means that Mr. Trump was seeking a deal at the time he was calling for an end to economic sanctions against Russia imposed by the Obama administration. He was seeking a deal when he gave interviews questioning the legitimacy of NATO, a favorite talking point of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. And he was seeking a deal when, in July 2016, he called on Russia to release hacked Democratic emails that Mr. Putin’s government was rumored at the time to have stolen.”
Giuliani now says the project discussions went up to the day Trump won the election.
Rudy went on a number of interviews to dispute the BuzzFeed news report that Trump’s ex-lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen lied to Congress about the project in Moscow.
From a statement John Santucci got from Giuliani, he now says his comments were “hypothetical,” after giving the NY Times a direct quote from President Trump.
“Translation: ‘I just made s**t up,'” Kellyanne Conway’s husband George Conway tweeted in response to Giuliani’s statement.
