Iowa Representative Steve King quotes a grocery store ad mailer on Twitter that says “heaven has a strict immigration policy and hell has open borders.”
Rep King lifted the quote from a grocery store mailer that typically includes religious messages.
“Heaven has a wall, a gate
anda strict immigration policy. Hell has open borders. Let that sink in,” the ad mailer says.
Mac’s Cashsaver is a family-owned Christian grocery store in Southeast Arkansas and it’s receiving a lot of backlash from its customers due to their controversial political message.
Store Manager Jack Digby told reporters that his customers are “making political spin out of it and getting the wrong idea of what it really means.”
“I am for the company and I am for God. There’s nothing wrong with what that statement says,” Digby said.
The Iowa representative also received lots of backlash on Twitter because of the his tweet.
