Attempts to restore traffic in the canal have not yet been successful
Dredging the Suez Canal and attempts to tow the grounded container ship Ever Given will continue on Saturday. The work was suspended late Friday night local time and the traffic in the canal has not yet been unloaded.
U.S. President Joe Biden offered to help unblock the canal. According to Biden, the U.S. has equipment and capacity that most countries do not have.
A U.S. official said on condition of anonymity that the Navy was ready to send a team of dredging experts, but was awaiting the consent of the local authorities.
On March 28, two additional tugs will reportedly arrive to Ever Given to help move the grounded vessel.
The blockage of the Suez Canal, which links Europe and Asia, has led to higher prices for oil products and also threatens to impose costly costs on a number of companies.
