President Donald Trump jokes about Global Warming this morning in a tweet as record-setting cold temperatures hit the United States.
“Be careful and try staying in your house,” Trump tweeted. “Large parts of the Country are suffering from tremendous amounts of snow and near record setting cold. Amazing how big this system is. Wouldn’t be bad to have a little of that good old fashioned Global Warming right now!”
It’s startling that the President of the United States doesn’t know the difference between weather and climate.
American Geosciences Institute defines weather as “the state of the atmosphere from day to day. It includes temperature, atmospheric pressure, clouds, wind, and precipitation. Climate is the long-term average of the weather.”
While Trump is joking about the cold weather, let us not forget the 800,000 federal workers who are not receiving paychecks because of the government shutdown that might be worried about heating bills.
Surgeon-scientist Dr.Eugence Gu replied to Trump’s tweet noting how carbon dioxide has risen to ‘unprecedented levels because of our addiction to fossil fuels’.
This summer will mark 2 years since Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris climate agreement that was signed by every other nation on earth.
Donald Trump believes climate change is a hoax that was created by the Chinese to make the United States less competitive.
“The concept of global warming was created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive,” Trump tweeted.
Yes, this is from the guy that we elected for President of the United States.
Let’s not forget, almost all of Donald Trump’s products are made in China.
Lastly, the Pentagon calls climate change a national security threat in a newly released report just a few days ago.
The report mentions how hard it is to operate around the world because of climate change, especially in Africa and Indo-Pacific regions where flooding and desertification impact US troop missions.
All of this will fall on deaf ears, the President and his base believes it’s all make-believe.
