The director of “Batman” and “Monstro” Matt Reeves plans to act as a producer in the Hollywood version of the Russian thriller “Sputnik”. As we know, the American companies Village Roadshow and 6th and Idaho will also handle the project. The Russian side will be represented by Art Pictures Studio and Hydrogen.
By the way, “Sputnik” is the first big domestic premiere, which immediately appeared on digital platforms. Fedor Bondarchuk, who starred in the film and produced it, noted that during the lockdown period, almost “no one left home,” and thanks to this picture has seen many viewers. The filmmaker also admitted that he was proud that “Sputnik” was one of the few projects on which an English-language remake will be made.
Recall that the events of the original film took place in the early 1980s in the Soviet Union. In the story, Soviet cosmonaut Vladimir Veshnyakov goes into space, but when he returns to Earth, his body discovered alien organism. Now doctor Tatyana Klimova must save him from the unknown creature. The leading roles were taken by actors Peter Fedorov and Oksana Akinshina.
The premiere date of the remake of the thriller has not yet been announced.
