The Starz television channel has decided to end the filming of the “American Gods” multi-series. According to Western media reports, the third season of the sci-fi project will be the final one. At the same time, according to insiders, many options are being considered, including the filming of a full-length picture, which will put a point in the existing storyline.
“‘American Gods’ will not be returning for a new season. We all want to thank the wonderful cast and crew as well as our partners at Fremantle for bringing author and producer Neil Gaiman’s story to life,” the official statement noted.
Note that the cancellation of the sequel is likely triggered by the series’ low ratings: its multiplatform audience was down 65 percent from the first to the third season.
Gillian Anderson, Ian McShane, Pablo Schreiber, Emily Browning, Jonathan Tucker, Yetide Badaki and others took the lead roles in the drama project about the battle of new and old gods.
