The popular application has surpassed the one billion downloads mark from the Google Play store. The record number of downloads brought to the translator not only free access, but also a user-friendly interface and support for a huge number of languages.
Google Translate for Android was released in January 2010. Eleven years and 3 months later, the count of downloads from the official Google Translate store passed the milestone of 1,000,000,000. It is noteworthy that the installation of Translate all the time was carried out solely by the users’ request, because the application has never been a part of the standard GMS (Google Mobile Services) package.
The current version of the program noticeably differs from the debut build in interface design and feature set. Now Google Translate for Android supports 109 languages, as well as functions of transcription, pronunciation of foreign words, translation using the camera and other options.
